We believe design is part of every product decision, so the successful candidate will lead a team of visual and interactive designers, some embedded within cross-functional teams, continuously improving the product for consumers, deploying their work fast and often; and some who are researching new product ideas using lean UX research methodologies. As the leader of this team, you will drive great design that delights customers and delivers business goals. You’ll develop and evolve our voice and tone by listening, collaborating, and guiding. You’ll help each designer reach his or her top potential, often by sharing your experience and offering solutions as guideposts along the way. You’ll create a design team identity to give designers a sense of belonging, of community, to complement their day-to-day cross-functional orientation.

As a key company leader, the Head of Design reports directly to the Chief Product Officer. He or she is responsible not only for driving business results, but also for fostering a culture centered on priceline.com’s key values: innovation, teamwork, accountability, integrity and, of course, our customer. You lead by example as you set a high bar and then inspire and coach your team to reach it.

 

This is based in our midtown New York City office. The role requires travel to our Norwalk office once a week.

 

Responsibilities

 

Lead a team of 10 UI/UX designers. Work with designers to create and execute against career development plans via weekly 1:1s and yearly performance reviews.
 Execute against key growth goals as a partner in the product management and business processes
 Support a positive productive working relationship between teams.  Establish and nurture our product voice and tone- all the while balancing the (sometimes conflicting) inputs of A/B test results, user feedback, and business need.
 Report to and collaborate with our executive team. 

Requirements

5 years designing effective products that scale and delight
2 years with a single company in a leadership role and a promotion/recognition
References from at least 1 direct report and boss
Experience in consumer web and app products preferred
Passion for travel
